Deep Church Audio Download

Deep_Church_largeDeep Church, a book written as a “Third Way”, is available for 98cents on christianaudio.com. There has been a lot of talk about it in every direction I’ve looked recently. Met Jim Belcher at Verge LA and I believe one of the attenders called him the “unity guy” and I think that is just what role this book is meant to play. People in churches like to make sweeping gestures and assumptions about those who are different and in the process won’t listen or learn to the wisdom of others and in the process allow others to hear from them. I read the pdf of the 1st chapter and just downloaded the audio book. Will try to throw up some thoughts as I listen to it this week.

Here is the blurb from the publisher:
In Deep Church, Belcher brings the best insights of all sides to forge a third way between emerging and traditional. In a fair and evenhanded way, Belcher explores the proposals of such emerging church leaders as Tony Jones, Brian McLaren and Doug Pagitt. He offers measured appreciation and affirmation as well as balanced critique. Moving beyond reaction, Belcher provides constructive models from his own church planting experience and paints a picture of what this alternate, deep church looks like–a missional church committed to both tradition and culture, valuing innovation in worship, arts and community but also creeds and confessions.

PS It is an important book because Tim Keller says it’s an important book!
